Regional Revitalization at a New Stage

As rural regions face mounting challenges such as population decline, aging societies, youth outmigration, and a shortage of business successors, shifts in the role and mindset of major cities—including Tokyo—are becoming increasingly important. This session reexamines the current dependence of urban areas on rural regions for food, energy, and other resources, and explores what a more balanced and sustainable relationship between cities and regions should look like going forward.
