The Next Phase of Human Rights Due Diligence: From Policy to Practice

As human rights due diligence (HRDD) matures, expectations are shifting beyond policy commitments toward more tangible and comprehensive implementation. With Japan’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights reaching its conclusion, companies are now required to strengthen internal governance structures, expand HRDD across entire supply chains, and engage more meaningfully with diverse stakeholders.
This session will explore the “next phase” of human rights due diligence—focusing on how organizations can operationalize HRDD in a more realistic, integrated, and accountable manner amid evolving global standards and on-the-ground challenges.
