Born in Kanagawa in 1973, Katsuhiro Kondo joined Patagonia in 1995 as a store staff member at the Kamakura location. He went on to lead the launch of visual merchandising in Japan and served as store manager at multiple locations. Later, he transitioned to the marketing department, where he oversaw promotional activities and contributed to brand strategy as Marketing Manager.
In 2016, he was appointed head of the Japan market for Patagonia’s food business, Patagonia Provisions, and led its launch in the same year. He has focused on connecting sustainable food and regenerative organic agriculture with solutions to Japan’s environmental and social challenges, while also expanding the domestic product line.
Since 2025, he has served as Director of the Impact Department, overseeing initiatives including grant programs that support grassroots environmental activism. His work spans healthy food and regenerative agriculture, watershed and land restoration, and contributes to addressing the climate crisis and advancing nature-positive outcomes.

I grew up in Katsushika-Ku, Tokyo. I joined Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. in April 1991.
Since then, I have gained experience in various sales departments, including regional sales, automotive dealer sales, assignment in Indonesia, corporate sales, and secondment to a life insurance company. In 2017, I was transferred to the Sustainability Department at MS&AD Holdings, where I worked in the field of biodiversity and natural capital, including initiatives such as Indonesia’s afforestation project and the Japan Business Initiative for Biodiversity (JBIB), until 2020.
Starting in 2022, I was seconded to “Office for Mainstreaming Biodiversity, Nature Conservation Bureau, Ministry of Environment” for a three-year term, where I contributed to the formulation of the Nature Positive Economic Transition Strategy, supported TNFD disclosures, and promoted Nature Positive initiatives to businesses.
I have been serving in my current position since April 2025.
