Born in Okinawa and a graduate of Hitotsubashi University, Yasutomo began his career in 2012 at Okinawa Electric Power Company, where he focused on regional infrastructure and energy resilience. Following roles in business development at Shizen Energy Inc. and later as a renewable energy consultant, he joined the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) in 2025.
At OIST, he leads “Testbed Projects” centered on industry-academia-government collaboration. He acts as a strategic bridge between world-class scientific research and local communities, exploring new frontiers for innovation through collaborative ventures. Throughout his career in the energy sector, he has remained dedicated to regional empowerment, striving to build sustainable business models that harmonize global expertise with Okinawa’s local needs.
