Hiroyasu Abe joined Yamaha in 1993 and was responsible for materials research and the development of production technologies for both domestic and overseas factories within the Production Engineering Division. He received the Special Award at the 2011 National Commendation for Invention, presented by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation, for his work on wood modification technology.
In 2009, he voluntarily transferred to the Environment and CSR Division, and in 2015 he was appointed Manager of the CSR Promotion Office.
In line with the corporate policy of placing sustainability at the core of management and business operations, he transferred to the Corporate Planning Division in 2021, where he currently serves. He leads and oversees sustainability initiatives across the Yamaha Group, striving to realize the corporate mission of “Well-being of people around the world.”

Currently serving as WWF Network’s AP25 Senior Executive Team member, ADB (Asian Development Bank) WWF Partnership Steering Committee Chair.
Studied natural resources management at University of Edinburgh and graduated with Master of Science degree, joined WWF Japan in 1992 and worked on wetland and flyway conservation. Since 2000, initiated an international marine biodiversity conservation project for the Yellow Sea Ecoregion cooperating with scientists, environmental NGOs, local and central government agencies, and UN agencies in China and South Korea. Between 2011-2020, as Conservation Director for WWF Japan, managed a conservation programme. Between 2017-2020, also worked as an Asia-Pacific Representative of Conservation Directors and led the launch of the WWF Asia Pacific Counter-Illegal Wildlife Trade Hub.
