From an early age, I was drawn to both music and nature, and during my student years I devoted myself to band activities. After studying forest utilization at Nagoya University and aspiring to balance wood protection and effective use, I joined Yamaha Corporation, a local musical instrument manufacturer, in 1990. I worked in wood-flooring design and development and later in technical sales for semiconductors before transferring to the Environmental Affairs Division. There, I handled a wide range of environmental planning tasks, including ISO 14001 certification support, environmental accounting, environmental reporting, data collection, scenario analysis, transition planning, and responses to SBT, CDP, and other surveys. I currently serve as secretariat for the Sustainability Committee’s Climate Change Subcommittee and lead the development of TCFD and TNFD disclosures. My hobbies include growing roses, soccer, fishing, and playing in a band. I am a father of two.

Studied natural resources management at University of Edinburgh and graduated with Master of Science degree, joined WWF Japan in 1992 and worked on wetland and flyway conservation. Since 2000, initiated an international marine biodiversity conservation project for the Yellow Sea Ecoregion cooperating with scientists, environmental NGOs, local and central government agencies, and UN agencies in China and South Korea. Between 2011-2020, as Conservation Director for WWF Japan, managed a conservation programme. Between 2017-2020, also worked as an Asia-Pacific Representative of Conservation Directors and led the launch of the WWF Asia Pacific Counter-Illegal Wildlife Trade Hub.
